Code Of Conduct
The Game
The object of World of Warcraft (WoW) is entertainment. People are playing a game and paying money to do so as a form of relaxation and fun. It is with this goal in mind that we have developed a Code of Conduct (CoC) - a guide to enrich the entertainment value of all who participate in WoW. It is our hope that all players, and especially members of Knights Vindication, will abide by this code.
The Community
As a guild member, you are part of a community, a family so to speak, of brothers and sisters in arms. You have sworn your allegiance to the guild and by doing so you now belong to this community. Your allegiance is to the other members of the guild. Helping guild members and supporting guild functions should come first. Helping the guild grow by recruiting new members and helping current members level up is part of everyone's responsibility. Do not, however, expect others to do everything for you. Be helpful, not needy - you will get a more positive response from announcing, "I am forming a group to run Blackrock Depths. Who would like to join me?" rather than, "I need someone to take me to Blackrock Depths".
The Economy
Just as in real life, WoW has a complex and functioning economy. There are people who make various items and others who gather resources and so on. There is a constant exchange of produced goods (tools, armor, weapons, etc.) and of resources along with the currency of gold, silver, and copper. Again, remember that we are a family that helps and supports each other. Many times our crafters will give of their time and effort and freely give of their wares to others in the guild. But, don't abuse their goodwill. If a weapons crafter gives away weapons for free, then that crafter also must spend much of his or her time out gathering and buying items and not playing the game. Be willing to pay for what you get, either with in-game currency or in the form of trade for equivalent services, even from other guild members. Although many guild members will not ask for (nor expect) anything in return for helping fellow members, all members will be much more willing to help you if they know you are willing to return the favor in some way.
The People
In any community where people interact, there will be good times and bad times. Everyone has a different and unique personality. At times, these personalities will clash. There is nothing wrong with this clash. Differences and conflicts are part of life at home, at work, and even at play. Just remember tolerance and understanding. This doesn’t mean you must tiptoe around everyone and not be yourself. Just be open to feedback. A sign of maturity is to be able to respect the differences of others and to be able to communicate openly and clearly as an adult, with facts, and not with childish, emotional outbursts.
Principles of Behavior
It is expected that personal conflicts and issues will be resolved in a mature way with facts and not with emotional outbursts. The officers will not normally get involved in personal issues. If someone offends you, address it with the person in private. If these issues start to affect the majority of the guild or the fun and entertainment of game play, the person causing the problem may be asked to leave the guild. Note that /g or /o chat is the not the place for personal conflicts and personal discussions.
Tolerance and respect are always expected and appreciated.
Remember the guild chat channel is open communication to all guild members. It's not a private commutation link between you and another player. Therefore please watch your choice of language in the open guild chat channel and please don't use it as a forum for posting personal issues. The guild chat channel is great for getting and giving information and for conversing with others guild wide.
Likewise, be civil and polite when using any voice communication such as Ventrilo. Any rules that apply to the guild chat channel apply to voice communication as well.
Please do your best to use proper English in chat; good communication relies on clarity. Refrain from using chat shorthand or "Netspeak" in /g and other open channels. Examples include using "u" instead of "you", or "ne1" instead of "anyone." Common abbreviations such as DM, SM, LRBS, lol, brb, and wb are allowed. Guild members are strongly encouraged to communicate clearly and not carry on entire conversations with shorthand.
Integrity with behavior is a must. As brothers and sisters in arms, we must be able to trust and depend on each other.
Everyone in the guild is expected to follow Blizzard's Code of Conduct for WoW.
Violation of the Code of Conduct
Guild officers will warn people if they violate this CoC. Depending on the situation, the violator may be kicked from the guild. If not, multiple warnings will lead to demotions and continued warnings will then lead to the violator being kicked from the guild.
The above is not all-inclusive. There is a lot to be said for simple, plain, everyday good manners and courtesy. Also keep in mind that at the end of the day, WoW is still just a game so try not to take it TOO seriously. Please use the above as a general guide and maybe it will help everyone to just have fun.
